Easy Pre-Party Snacks
It's a good idea to have a few nibbles for guests to snack on as you wait for key guests to arrive. You don't have to make it elaborate, just have enough food and drinks ready at party time to keep hunger at bay while guests wait for the food to be served. Self Serve Beverage Bar
Use large glass jars to serve iced drinks like tea and lemonade. Always prepare drinks full strength--- the melting ice will dilute them.
-
Set a Relaxed Mood
It is so important to make your guests feel welcome and relaxed when they arrive but it is especially important for pre-wedding parties so everyone gets a chance to chill before the big day. This casual party by the pool was just the ticket. -
Repurpose Your Flowers!
Flowers used for the bridesmaids' luncheon earlier in the day were put to good use for this party. It's a great way to save a few dollars and get more mileage from your blooms.
-
Mix it Up
You don't have to stick to one decorating pattern. Mix it up by using checks, stripes, paisley, polka-dots, and solids like Cam did for your party decor. You'll add visual interest and depth when you mix it up a little!
-
Let There Be Light
And there was! Every table should have some lighting and Cam found these great lanterns which were perfect for the party's theme. If you are using candles, make sure to puchase your candles with an adequate burn time to last the length of the party. -
Add a Personal Touch
Huge loaves of homemade bread were served with a special treat--- fresh peach jam from locally grown peaches. Use locally produced r ethnically inspired items to introduce your heritage to your party guests.
-
Plan for the Kids
Always have activities planned for your littlest guests--- make the party fun for them, too! These kids had a ball swinging out over the water in this tree swing. -
The Happy Couple
Congratulations Jeremy and Nedra! -
Shrimp Boil
Shrimp boils are popular for parties in the south and they're pretty simple to pull off. Big pots are filled with potatoes, onions, corn, and sausage. Add beer or Old Bay Seasoning to the pot. When potatoes are done, add the shrimp. Remove from the heat as soon as shrimp are pink so they don't get tough. -
A Family Affair
Pround dad Scott, daughter-in-law Jenny, and son Wes were all smiles as they celebrated Jeremy's wedding to Nedra. -
Timing is Everything
When you have a party outdoors, timing is so important. Make sure to judge sunlight patterns several days before the party so you'll know where you have shade, full sun, and timing for sunset so you can plan accordingly. -
Mint to Be Party Favors
Cute party favors like these mints in wedding colors are always a good idea. Since they are a custom printed item, make sure to order them at least eight weeks before your party date. -
Photo Decor
Use your favorite pictures to decorate--- not only do they add a lot to your decor, they give your guests a glimpse into your life. Give special family and friends a photo to take home or use them as a photo gallery at home after the party is over.
