A Day with Guy Fieri and Ultimate Recipe Showdown at Food Network

Wow- a quick trip to New York is always a whirlwind but this one was a cyclone. I hit the ground running for meetings with some publishers and PR folks, then some super brainstorming/dragon slaying over drinks with some incredible new media types at King Cole Bar at the St. Regis--- I got the 411 on the history of the Bloody Mary from Conrad, the bartender there. More on that to come next week. Dinner at DBGB--- Daniel Boulud's latest restaurant was fantastic. Casual, cool and very posh, these weren't your grandmother's sausages! More to come on that, too.

I was also lucky enough to get to sit in on some of the action behind the scenes during Guy Fieri's taping of Ultimate Recipe Showdown--- Party Food. I really wanted to see Guy in action- he's such a pro at what he does. It was a blast. FYI, Guy's got a HUGE rock and roll type cooking tour coming up and I know this is going to be a show you don't want to miss. I think you can get info and tickets now at www.guyfieri.com

It's a crazy time of the year with football, festivals, birthdays--- charity events!!! So much going on that I'm going to have to catch you up next week because I am late for Arden's birthday lunch. We've got lots of pictures and ideas coming up to help you make your fall festivities easy, affordable and really fun! Have a great weekend!!

Martie Party on Location in Chicago with Triple D and Guy Fieri!

You know I am not the type to name drop (LOL) but when something fantastic happens that other foodie and party people would want to know about, you have to tell it. Lots of you, like me, are big fans of Food Network star chef Guy Fieri and his show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Guy and the DDD crew hit Chicago for a taping of the hit show last week and I got to tag along. (Thanks Guy and Kleetus!) Guy is such a pro, he makes the whole thing look really easy, but it was easy to see that it's all really hard work. I got to meet another member of Guy's Krew, Mustard, who was very sweet and super cool. Mustard was kinda the theme of the day as Guy (big prankster) chased a few people around the kitchen with a squirt bottle of mustard. Guy has new episodes of Triple D and Guy's Big Bite airing now so if you don't already watch, check out the coolest chef on the Food Network. And to make a fun day even more fun, I got to go to Wrigley for a Cubs game while I was in town and the rain actually stopped just in time!

Celebrity Chef Sightings! Martie Meets Guy Fieri and his posse in Atlanta

Martie Duncan and Guy Fieri: The party's on!OK- I am going to do a thorough wrap up of our weekend at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show in Atlanta later tonight. We had a ball talking about parties and fun. Thanks to everyone for hanging out with us! We had SRO crowds at every show and met so many nice people!! Awesome!

Some of the nicest people we met were celebrity chef Guy Fieri from The Food Network and his posse.  Kleetus, Brunch (don't ask-- his name is Brunch!) along with Michael and Scott from Ergo Chef(the company that makes Guy's knives) were so great and a real blast! I have to tell you Guy is one of the most real celebs I have ever met-- very cool and completely nice. And his live show really was OFF THE HOOK! Loud and high energy like a rock concert-- completely fitting because Guy really rocks the house! Guy-- you are awesome! Check out Guy's sitesign up for his email and buy Guy gear there. Looking forward to cooking some of his recipes for our party crowd. We all bought his book!Guy and his posse: Michael and Scott from Ergo Chef, Kleetus, Brunch and Guy Fieri

Stay tuned for more fun, pics and new from the show. We had a blast!
