Martie's Pomegranate Margarita Recipe

Fresh from our appearance this morning on Talk of Alabama, check out our newest drink recipe, perfect for Cinco de Mayo parties! A little sweet and a little tart, this margarita made with PAMA rivals the best I've ever had-- and I've had some awesome margaritas. Like a little heat? Garnish with a jalapeno pepper instead of a lime. It's not for eating--- just for stirring. If you leave it in the bottom of the glass, it adds a spicy kick! I  know it's old school, but I prefer a lime. A couple of friends loved the pepper twist. Check out the video from the show. FYI- I left off the Grand Marnier!! Duh--- I was a little sleepy! The correct recipe is below.

Martie's PAMA Pomegranate Margarita

Just right for 1 large margarita glass/double for 2

2 ounces PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur

1 ounce good white tequila (use 100% agave)

Splash Grand Marnier orange liqueur (or sub Triple Sec if you like)

2 ounces fresh lime juice (Don't use the plastic squeeze kind)

1 Tablespoon confectioners' sugar

Splash of club soda

Coarse salt or margarita salt for rimming (I used coarse Kosher salt)

Rim glasses with salt--- see below.  Add ice to a cocktail shaker then add ingredients except club soda. Secure shaker top. Double check it. (You can ask me just how important this step is after I stop mopping up sticky lime juice from my kitchen walls) Shake well and pour into chilled cocktail or margarita glasses. Float a slice of lime and the club soda on top. You can also serve this drink over ice.

To add a rim, pour coarse salt onto a small plate. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass. Invert the glass onto the plate and turn it in the salt to make sure it sticks.

The lawyer says I have to tell you "drink responsibly" but you already know that.

Awesome Arden Ward of Arden Photography took pictures on set this morning for our first book--- check it out! Get more recipes and information on PAMA from their website.

Spring Showers: Host a Pretty in Pink Party for Wedding and Baby Showers

Many of you have emailed asking for party ideas for upcoming wedding showers, baby showers and  graduation parties so in the coming weeks we'll give you a few simple ideas to help you get started with your party plans. If you don't have a good idea for a theme for your upcoming party, why not build your party around a color? I do that quite often with striking results. Here are easy ideas for a "pretty in pink"party that builds around the color pink. Make drinks in your party color. If you don't have a good recipe, get a mix like we did for this party. Add ribbons, lanterns or other decorations to tie the theme together. Add pretty favors and you're done! Perfect for a wedding shower, baby shower, graduation party or Sweet Sixteen Party, just add personal touches to make the party uniquely yours. Baby pictures, baby booties or baby bottles will dress it up for a baby shower while tiny bouquets and pictures of the happy couple make it great for a wedding shower. An all pink candy bar  makes it party perfect for a graduation party or Sweet 16 soiree.
