During 20 years in the wedding business, Martie has worked with the world's best caterers, florists, designers, party planners, and stylists and she's picked up every trick of the trade along the way. On the set of the film My Best Friend's Wedding, she learned how to create visual impact watching Academy Award winning production designer Dick Sylbert and set decorator William Wright magically transform empty spaces into party sets.
Her experience in the media includes The Oprah Winfrey Show and she's been interviewed on a variety of planning and industry topics by the New York Times, Chicago Tribune In Style Weddings, Smart Money, Wall Street Journal, Oakland Press, Brides, Manhattan Bride, The Birmingham News, Marie Claire, Wedding Dresses Magazine and Elegant Bride along with other national and local publications. She has appeared in party planning and wedding trend segments on local television morning shows for ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates in Chicago, St. Louis, Birmingham, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, and Chattanooga. As the expert for the local version of Today Throws a Wedding, Martie helped guide viewers through the entire planning process during the sixteen-week promotion culminating with the televised wedding. She is currently at work on her first book and regularly makes appearances on the food show circuit where she conducts workshops on affordable entertaining.
Martie has learned to stretch her party budget by using what's easily available, items she can reuse, borrow, rent, or make to create a great party atmosphere.
